Ever spent 12 hours strapped in a chair, given limited access to a bathroom, and served food & drink only in the smallest quantities possible? Then you haven't flown to an international destination. The day started out with a lovely walk on the cobblestones saying goodbye to Old Town Prague. Frank is convinced Budapest air poisoned him, even getting back to Prague didn't help. He slept in as I roamed the street, happily spending what was left of our currency. Sandwiches and pastries at two different bakeries. Yep, that ought to lesson the pain of flying all day.
Actually, the trip was fine - in Amsterdam, we were able to spend the rest of our Euros as well as Czech Koruna coins. That lovely girl behind the counter who clearly does math better than me in her head, let us pay for our drinks with both currencies. On the plane, we had our own screens & headsets and a variety of movies, TV shows, and music to choose from. I watched one movie, two documentaries, and two TV dramas and I still had three hours to go. Neither of us were really tired until the last few hours, then it was just painful. Landing in Atlanta at our body time of 3am, they kept us busy finding our luggage, showing our passport, going through customs, rechecking our luggage, then walking over four terminals to the KC flight. At least they were boarding our flight when we got there. It was also lucky we had a shuttle service to drive us home, I'm not sure we would've made it. Very happy dogs greeted us, and we tried to sleep last night, but I think it will take a few days to get our days and nights sorted out. I do know I enjoyed every beer, sausage, pastry, and goulash that made up the five pounds I gained! A special thanks to Pam & Jane for all the research they did on our destinations, and made each city a richer experience for Frank & I. That, and the companionship and laughter that made this trip a blast.
And now to sort the photos, movies, and memorabilia relive the experience all over again!
