I feel I must continue now about today's adventure because the internet access is pretty good, and we set sail at 6pm. We didn't make our lock schedule due to who knows what, but several Viking ships had to dock before Passau and take busses in.

When I say the ships docked next to one another, I really mean they were next to one another!
Our ships were right in town when our tours were finished. We had the best guide yet, full of wonderful anecdotes and charming information about this town. Passau sits on the convergence of 3 rivers, each one claiming a different name and color. The Inn river claims to be clay color since it comes from the glaciers, the Danube blue, and we haven't seen the third river yet until we sail tonight. Can't say that I can tell the colors apart, but the town is the most charming yet. It reminds me more of Venice - with it's narrow streets and cobblestones.

Except this is a peninsula with the church in the middle on a hill. Winding, narrow cobblestone streets either lead you uphill toward the church, or downhill toward the rivers. We ended the tour with a fabulous organ concert at St. Stevens Church, home of the largest organ in Europe. There's always a big finish even in organ concerts, and this one didn't disappoint! It was glorious music played in another Baroque over the top decorated church. What better way to spend a Tuesday afternoon?

Well, maybe shopping and tasting the local beer, which has 5 breweries in this little town! I was only able to try one, Frank & I sipped at a sidewalk cafe late this afternoon to top off the day.
Now I must move from this spot on the boat and take my perch on the upper sun deck to watch us sail away from Passau!

We saw castles all along our route!
As the sun goes down, the view is still great!
